spaghetti western
What's a Spaghetti Western?: A Spaghetti Western is also known as Italian Western or Macaroni Western, is a broad subgenre of Western films that emerged in the mid-1960s in the wake of Sergio Leone's film-making style and international box-office success. a movie about the American Old West made cheaply in Europe, typically by an Italian producer and director.
Why would Tarantino use this genre for a World War II movie?: the movie Inglorious Bastards itself is sort of a Spaghetti Western that is set during World War II. Tarantino had also said that a majority of the violence in his movies comes from within, and for this movie, it did just as most Spaghetti Westerns.
List three ways Tarantino subverts the audience's expectations?:
1) One way that Tarantino subverts the audience's expectations is by taking turns, and twisting it so that the outcome is unknown until it is revealed.
2) Through camera shots, some of the shots can leave the audience uneasy and have parts as unexpected and unpredictable.
3) The dialogue that Tarantino has the characters use also subverts the audiences attention and for it to be unexpected.
Examples:
1) During the bar scene, it may have been expected that they spared the young mans life that just had a baby
2) It was possibly expected for Shosanna to fall in love with Fredrick
3) Maybe people thought that more people would have lived than just Aldo, Utivich and Hans.
